The Dallas Arboretum consists of a series of gardens and fountains with a magnificent view of the downtown Dallas skyline and the lake. A major portion of these grounds once belonged to the 44-acre estate, made for the geophysicist Everett Lee DeGolyer and his wife. Mrs. DeGolyer's interests extended to her well-kept and looked after flower gardens. Since 1976, the largest portion of the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden has been formed from the DeGolyer estate.

A Spanish mansion of the 1940s style, referred to as the DeGolyer House, is situated on the grounds of the Arboretum. Tours of the grand mansion and its enchanting sculpture garden can be arranged for visitors. The Woman's Garden, the Johnson Colous Gardens, and the Lay Ornamental Garden are wonderful places to visit here, and visitors are left spellbound on viewing the same.
