John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza
When you are in Dallas, travelling alone or with family, you are likely to be intrigued by the JFK assassination incident. It happened near the Dealey Plaza area in Dallas and since then, John F. Kennedy and the city of Dallas have become inextricably linked.
There are just too many theories and stories revolving around the incident for a common traveler to be able to sift through it all and makes sense. So knowing what really happened by now is a complete impossibility. But one thing is for sure; the city of Dallas will never forget JFK.
In his memory, a simple memorial was built in the area now known as John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza or simply as JFK plaza. The memorial is a simple structure that is often misinterpreted by visitors as being overtly simplistic. The memorial is actually meant to be a cenotaph or an open tomb.
This was the artist's idea, who built it to remember the free and open spirit of JFK. So it is a 30 feet by 30 feet structure with no roof. An inclined plane leads up to the place where John F.
Kennedy's name is carved and painted in gold. The gold in the paint captures the reflected light from the white walls beautifully.
Other than the name, the memorial has no markings whatsoever. This is often a place that visitors intrigued by the incident forget to visit and that is really sad. It is a small, walking distance from the Dealey Plaza, beside the sixth floor museum.
So no matter what Dallas travel package you are in, be sure to pay this place a visit. Its calmness and soothing shades will remind you of a great man who once changed a country.
