Texas Stadium Dallas: A Perfect Place to Enjoy the Football Game
The Texas Stadium Dallas used to be a football stadium located in the suburbs of Dallas. Established in 1971 it was built to replace the Cotton Bowl Stadium which was in a depleting condition at that time. With a seating capacity of over 65,000, it was the home of the Dallas Cowboys until 2008. However, recently, a new Cowboy Stadium has been constructed and opened in the Arlington region and the Texas Stadium was demolished in April 2010.
In the 1970s and 80s, the stadium was a perfect place to enjoy football matches. It hosted inter-college football matches and was a favorite for the high school football matches. The stadium also served as a home ground for the Plano Senior High School and the Highland Park High School, two renowned high schools in Dallas.
During the late 1980s, the World Wrestling Championship was held at the stadium and it became a huge hit attracting over 40,000 spectators to the event. In 2001, the stadium also hosted the Big 12 Conference Championship. The Cowboys played their last match at the stadium in 2008.
Besides, football, the stadium also became a seat for annual concerts, wrestling matches, and religious and social gatherings and became one of the favorite place for hosting events.
The stadium suffered a bad fate because of its construction errors. It was constructed with a retractable roof, mostly like European soccer stadiums. However, due to defects in construction, it could not support the load of the entire roof. Finally, the demolition order came from the mayor in April 2010. A number of the items in the stadium were auctioned at a high price.
