
Cotton Bowl Dallas - A Perfect Venue for Football Fans
The Cotton Bowl is one of the most renowned stadiums not in Dallas, but also in the whole of the U.S that is famous for its crowd pulling capacity. Established in 1932, it not only hosts a number of state-level and inter-college football matches, but also organizes concerts and musical shows with equal zest. It was also one of the venues of the 1994 FIFA World Cup that was held in the U.S.
Ever since its inception till 1947, the stadium was home to the SMU Mustangs football team that played numerous matches. By the 1950s, the Cotton Bowl became one of the few stadiums in the country to have a seating capacity of 75,000. The stadium's state-of-the-art facilities and installation of latest devices including a chair-back seating arrangement and Astroturf surface have made it score above other stadiums in the region.
Six of the World Cup 1994 matches were held in the stadium. It was them that the stadium underwent another set of revamping as the field was widened and the press box was expanded. It was also in the very same year that the stadium got the permission to host various other international soccer games. Currently, it hosts events like the State Fair Classic football matches, Southwestern Bell Cotton Bowl Classic and several other popular matches.
From 2006-08, the stadium again went through a massive modernization after receiving a huge amount of fund from the state. Improvements were made in a number of areas such as lighting and sound facilities, corridors, restrooms, club house, and seating arrangement. The capacity was raised to over 92,000. It is definitely a place which football fans should never miss.
