Arboretum and Botanical Garden
The Arboretum and botanical garden is a beautiful set of gardens and fountains that are located in east Dallas. The total collection spans over 66 acres and is actually a botanical garden. These gardens were originally a part of a 44-acre estate, which was called the Rancho Encinal. It was built for the famous geophysicist DeGoyler and his wife Nell.
It was Mrs. DeGoyler who was interested in extensive flower gardens and hence the Arboretum now has huge collection of several different types of flowers that are in bloom all year round, turn by turn as per their respective seasons.
The Arboretum hosts an annual show called the 'Dallas Blooms' and it has hundreds of thousands blooms featured in the festival. This is a really good time to visit the arboretum and make merry through the five week, six weekends long celebrations.
