On entering the Fair Park building you will find that the Dallas World Aquarium is situated between the Fair Park Band shell and the Texas Star Ferris. For travelers looking to find it on the map, it is located on 1462 First Ave.
Some of the main stars at the aquarium are the snapping turtles, lionfish, seahorses, electric eels, alligator gars, shrimpfish, batfish and a number of other anemones, corals and jellyfish. Two latest additions to the star studded aquarium were the three yellow spotted stingrays and a shark.
The Dallas World Aquarium also takes part in preserving and conserving marine species around the world by participating in research and conservation projects. It also takes part in breeding some endangered marine species. They were successful in breeding a number of endangered species such as Comal Springs Salamander, Texas Blind Salamander and a number of other fish.
The Dallas aquarium also has two gift shops and three restaurants to satisfy your hungry stomachs after an interesting underwater tour.
Currently the Dallas World aquarium is undergoing a major renovation. This is being done to remodel the entire place and turn it into a Children's Aquarium where they can learn and understand how these marine creatures survive and have fun at the same time. The Children's Aquarium plans to open to the public in 2010.
